A Tavern, Oia, Monday evening

After saying goodbye to Mel and finishing his shift at work, Romeo hurried across the causeway onto Santorini. He had late dinner plans he didn't want to miss.

He ordered an ouzo with raspberry syrup and lemonade.

It was good.

He ordered a second, and was about to start on his third as he surveyed the crowd.

"Totally didn't say only," Reno agreed, trying to figure out what in the world he was supposed to make of the dolmades.

They were leaf... things. Kinda looked like turds.

But he'd try anything once, too. Especially if someone bet him money to eat it. Or paid for it themselves.

Mooching Greek food. Sure thing!

Romeo watched the leaf thing disappear into Reno's mouth as he killed another slug of ouzo.

By this point in the evening, the licorice taste had gained a certain charm.

"How was that?" he had to ask, hand hovering over the dish.

Yurika was always happy to pay for food and booze, since the company was always so enjoyable.

Besides, spending Daddy's money was always fun.

"Just try it," she said, grabbing one for herself. "When's the next time you'll get to try actual Greek food?"

"Was like eating a leaf," Reno observed. "With rice wrapped in it."

He still had no idea what to make of it.

So he reached for another one. Why the hell not, right?

"Try putting one of the dippy-sauces on it?" Dōjima suggested, going back to the taramosalata. "That might make it interesting?"

Which was probably not the way to eat it, but Dōjima didn't really care. "This is goooooood. Think we can transplant this place onto our island?"

Romeo screwed up his courage and tried a leaf thingy.

Surprisingly, it tasted like a damp leaf, wrapped around rice. He took a second bite with the sauce Yurika had suggested, and ..." I could eat a lot of those," he decided. "And if the island came to it, it can certainly come to the island."

"Do land masses move around in either for your worlds, by the way?"

"Nope!" she said cheerfully, stealing a piece of spanakopita. "All islands and continents stay right where they belong, minus the natural continental drift. None of this globe-jumping strangeness!"

"Gaia doesn't do the island-shifting thing either, that I know about. I think we gotta just face the facts, here. Fandom's a freak, yo."

This, of course, called for more dolmades. And ouzo.
