Causeway & onto the mainland, Saturday

Romeo fidgeted slightly with his jacket as he waited at the causeway. It was a cool day, but he hoped the sunny weather would hold as they headed to the mainland and to Fécamp for shopping.

It was a weekend, and Dōjima was actually awake and out of bed before noon. This could, perhaps, be counted as a minor miracle.

"Ohaiyo, minna-san!" she chirped happily. "Let's get this party started, ne?"

Rome grinned at her broadly. "We're both awake and ready to leave on time," he pointed out. "This calls for a celebration indeed."

Dōjima was practically bouncing. "This is the best ever," she said, peering at one of the exhibits. "Can we forcibly relocate them on to the island? Please?"

She hummed happily and tossed her arms around his neck, going up on tip-toe to plant a kiss on his nose. "Hai! We shall have a grand adventure, and perhaps we will find a nice cafe at the end of it all for our celebration dinner."

"Perhaps we could bribe them into it," Romeo suggested. "Or get the banana stand place to carry these as a second line."

He nuzzled her neck. "I like the boat showing how chocolate gets across the seas."

"And lots of wine," Romeo said, possibly unnecessarily, grinning at her bounciness. "I'm happy to go. I've not been to France in over a hundred years." He kind of laughed at his own joke.

"Maybe we'll take a few bottles to go, and you can start a wine cellar under your bed," she teased. "I'd hate for you to go another hundred years without a taste of France."

The nuzzling was nice, and Dōjima giggled quietly. "I think I like it all! Just watch, I'm going to end up splurging and spending way too much in the gift store. I totally need to pick up something for Jen here, she'll be so jealous."

Romeo laughed. "I'd be very old, and no doubt very wise if it took a hundred years for me to get back again," he pointed out. "My caregivers might not even let me drink wine by then."

The giggling, of course lead to more nuzzling. "And we should get things for our cabinmates. Worf fed me pie yesterday, I ought to be at least as hospitable."

"I have high hopes that nothing is going to be the same," Andrew replied. Even though there was one dusty old book store he was kind of hoping was still there.

"And I'm going to steer clear of the unpasteurized cheese."

"At least we've more experience with the language this time," Romeo said, trying to be optimistic.

"I hadn't thought about the cheese."

"Oui!" Andrew agreed. He had gotten quite proficient with the French last time he was here. His archaic accent was sure to get a lot of odd looks today.

He looked around, smiled, and added, "Thanks for inviting me."

Romeo was kind of used to odd looks, so he wouldn't mind it if he got any. "'Tis nothing. I could tell you had need of a break from the island, and it's as easy for three to go as two."

"Nothing in particular," Andrew replied. And it was mostly true. "I might try to hit up a bookstore or two."

"Oooooooooh," Rikku said, bouncing on her toes. "France. This is gonna be nifty. Can you believe I didn't check it out last weekend? Guess I was busy being a pony."

She was in a much better mood, thanks to her chat in the Preserve with Reno and some meditating on the awesomeness of her cousin Yuna. Still worrying, but trying hard not to, dang it.
