Causeway & onto the mainland, Saturday

Romeo fidgeted slightly with his jacket as he waited at the causeway. It was a cool day, but he hoped the sunny weather would hold as they headed to the mainland and to Fécamp for shopping.

[OOC: For a few, everything after the first thread NFB due to distance. And yes, I am OCDing this for, like, three characters. I may be insane.]

Oh, Rikku had money, and she had forgotten to do the touristy kind of shopping in Greece, where you get all those little mementos and souvenirs and things for all sorts of people, just because. And some for yourself, too.

Well, she thought they'd have longer in Greece, and all.

"What do you think?" Rikku asked, pulling a t-shirt out and posing dramatically. "Is it me?"

Dōjima smirked slightly as she inspected two shirts. "Hai! It is very cute, and will look flattering on you," she answered. "Hey! Boys! Someone tell me what these say!"

"The first is very you," Romeo noted. " 'I regret nothing.' The second is ..." Wow, how to say this without sounding bitter. "Something I told you last week."

That wasn't bitter. That was factual.

Wow, did her luck suck.

Grinning, Dōjima stuck the second one back on the rack and kept the first item. "Eh, tabun dame. Red isn't really my color anyway, right?"

"The other is better," Romeo insisted. "And what would you think of this one for me?"

"What does it say?" she asked, trying to sound out the words. "It certainly looks like it would fit you."

If she had hidden something else for him under her other items, well, it would be a surprise.

"No one knows I'm a lesbian," Romeo explained, and immediately felt like a dork. "...is what it says. I haven't kept that degree of secret from you."

"Well, you do like girls," she mused, stepping back to watch him with an impish look on her face. "Should the day come that all the boys turn into girls, then it would be true."

"I suppose we should buy it for you, just in case."

"Exactly. One needs to have a few shirts around for just such emergencies," Romeo said, adding the shirt to the pile in his arms.

"I suppose I'd be obligated to help with the 'truth in advertising' bit," she said solemnly. "I wouldn't want any other girls kissing you, unless I got first chance."

"So if you reject me as a girl, I can go for others," Romeo nodded. "It's good we're setting these limits."

[OOC: I completely lost this ping.]

Dōjima just grinned. "Far be it from me to deny you the chance to experiment like that," she teased, "but I wouldn't count on rejection, if I were you."

Romeo laughed and took her hand. "Somehow changing my gender is seeming more appealing."

"I hope not," Yurika said dryly, squeezing his hand. "I rather like you boy-shaped, if you don't mind. I'd rather keep you this way."

He squeezed back. "I'm not going anywhere," he promised.

Yurika just smiled and rubbed her thumb over their entwined hands, taking a moment before dragging him over to another rack as she started flipping through more tops. "Ano, think we should get one of those shirts for Red, too? Then you can be twins."

That was the closest she was willing to come to acknowledging anything remotely serious today.

Today was for shopping. Remotely serious? What could they possibly have to talk about that was serious?

"Aye, and I'm trying to find some kind of ashtray or flask for him."

"We should find him a flask with a dancing girl on it," Dōjima replied, winking at him. "You started his collection of authentic dancing girls, it's your job to add to it."

"Sorry, I don't know any French," Rikku frowned, stopping to peer at a sunflower-covered silk scarf. "Whoa. I totally need this, though. And why am I wanting to get that purse? I don't need a purse. I have my leg-pouch."

Rikku was still figuring out the details of this whole girly-thing, yes.

"You need the purse!" Dōjima called out, peeking over her treasures. "Don't argue with the gods of shopping, just get it."

"That's the point of shopping, right? Buying things that just scream at you?" She lifted the purse again, examining the price tag, and trying to remember how Euros related to dollars, and dollars back to gil. She squinted. "Okay, maybe my math sucks, but I think there are too many numbers on this tag?"

"Probably, it is France," Dōjima agreed, looking at the tag. "What currency do they use here again?"
