Causeway & onto the mainland, Saturday

Romeo fidgeted slightly with his jacket as he waited at the causeway. It was a cool day, but he hoped the sunny weather would hold as they headed to the mainland and to Fécamp for shopping.

[OOC: For a few, everything after the first thread NFB due to distance. And yes, I am OCDing this for, like, three characters. I may be insane.]

He squeezed back. "I'm not going anywhere," he promised.

Yurika just smiled and rubbed her thumb over their entwined hands, taking a moment before dragging him over to another rack as she started flipping through more tops. "Ano, think we should get one of those shirts for Red, too? Then you can be twins."

That was the closest she was willing to come to acknowledging anything remotely serious today.

"Ohhh, attack of the giant kitty!" Andrew rather liked this idea. "I could totally be your cinematographer. Those movies need a certain level of camp for success, and I scream camp."

"Viva la France!" Rikku said, waving cheerily. "I'd say something French here, I don't know much French. Barely any. I looked up a couple of phrases we might need, like 'how much is that' and 'where is the hospital' and 'it was an accident, Mr. Policeman,' but I'm probably pronouncing them wrong."

"I've doomed myself to a lot worse," she said cheerfully. "'Cause I'm the one that filmed it and sent it to his best friend back home. I got footage of Reno as a frog for it. Best-friends-from-home have the best dirt. Remind me, I so have to show you."

"I was a tiny pony," Rikku giggled. "Everyone else got to be huge ponies and I was just THUMP, eensy. I always shrink when we get weird, like I'm not tiny enough already, here. How'd he make you think you were hearing voices?"

"Sorry, I don't know any French," Rikku frowned, stopping to peer at a sunflower-covered silk scarf. "Whoa. I totally need this, though. And why am I wanting to get that purse? I don't need a purse. I have my leg-pouch."

Rikku was still figuring out the details of this whole girly-thing, yes.

"Do I need to appease the chocolate gods now?" Rikku grinned. "I wonder if they'd take an offering of me, splurging on way too much of it."

*facepalm* and I totally forgot to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE SPOUSAL UNIT ZOMG.

Today was for shopping. Remotely serious? What could they possibly have to talk about that was serious?

"Aye, and I'm trying to find some kind of ashtray or flask for him."

"He was a frog?" Romeo laughed, incredulous. "I thought only the island turned people into animals."

"He was a toy, in the Perk!" she said, shaking her head. "I thought I was loosing my mind because I could hear a Red, but I didn't see one. I think the little brat enjoyed it, too."

"You need the purse!" Dōjima called out, peeking over her treasures. "Don't argue with the gods of shopping, just get it."

"We should find him a flask with a dancing girl on it," Dōjima replied, winking at him. "You started his collection of authentic dancing girls, it's your job to add to it."

"Your devotion is duly noted," she intoned seriously, waving one hand in the air. "For penance, you must try three new types of bon-bons, and drink the sacrificial chocolate liquor."

See? Dōjima had paid attention to the nuns at her schools. Kinda.

"Really?" Dōjima beamed at him. "Sugoi! The most film I've ever done is taking images on my cellphone, and that doesn't really capture the awesome of a fluffy white kitty decimating Europe."

"Apparently, where my world stuck with things that can make the enemy blind, or unable to cast magic?" Rikku was trying very, very hard not to giggle herself to death. "His has items that can turn your enemy into a frog. Because I know a lot of times I've been fighting something dangerous and thought to myself: wow, if only this were a frog, instead!"

"He probably did," she sighed, giggling. "Don't worry, I've got him back already. I taped his headless toy adventures. And then I sent them along to his best friend back home. We share blackmail stuff, it's so great."

She and Rude were totally BFF by now.

"That's the point of shopping, right? Buying things that just scream at you?" She lifted the purse again, examining the price tag, and trying to remember how Euros related to dollars, and dollars back to gil. She squinted. "Okay, maybe my math sucks, but I think there are too many numbers on this tag?"

Rikku nodded solemnly and performed the only religious gesture she knew: the symbol of Yevon, which Tidus had told her was the blitzball sign for victory, in old Zanarkand. Hey, she killed Yevon, she could totally make fun of his religious symbols, right?

And then she drank the liquor - still solemn - and looked over the rows of bon-bons. "Damn. 'New' means I have to remember which ones I've tried already, huh?"

"You could just get a few different types?" Dōjima suggested. "Then no one can accuse you of trying to shirk your duty!"

This coming from the girl who already had two boxes of chocolates in her basket, and was looking greedily at the chocolate-covered fruit. "Oooo...strawberries or cherries?"

"Probably, it is France," Dōjima agreed, looking at the tag. "What currency do they use here again?"
